My Story

I’ve been a teacher for over 20 years in the public, private, and charter school settings. I hold a master’s degree in education and a multiple- subject teaching credential. Teaching is my passion and my lifelong calling. I particularly love to teach writing because it’s a chance for the students to use their creativity and expression. I also love the challenge of teaching writing to those students who don’t like to write or have never felt confident in their writing abilities. When I was a child, writing was a frustrating experience for me. I have a deep desire to help struggling students learn to overcome and thrive in their writing skills. I discovered the IEW curriculum 8 years ago and I’ve been incorporating the structure and style form of writing with my students for the past 8 years. IEW's unique approach provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and creativity.
